Exquisite Eats Personal Chef Service

I have been married to my husband Scott for 14 years; we have two beautiful children, Madison (13) and Mason (7). I’m originally from Chicago but 9 years ago my husband had an opportunity to move to Overland Park, Kansas. I went kicking and screaming but a year later when he proposed we move back to my hometown I dug in my heels. I knew God brought us to Kansas for the next step in our life which was raising our children, finding an amazing Church Family and a career change that literally dropped into my lap.

I come from a long line of cooks that included my grandfather who was a cook in the Navy in World War II. My first attempts in the kitchen usually were baking treats for my family. Trying new recipes is a long-time hobby and my cookbook collection is extensive. My family and friends are often invited over for impromptu dinner parties so I can try out new recipes on them.

When we first moved to Kansas I joined a Mom's group at our Church. Every year we did a Mother's Day Luncheon at a local restaurant. The year that place shut their doors I volunteered to make food for our luncheon and bring it to a tea house. After lunch someone asked me to cater a luncheon for them and I laughingly replied, "Oh, I’m not a caterer!" On the way home I thought, "Why Not?" One thing led to another and I started getting calls from friends asking me to cook for events they were planning.

After a lot of thought and a lot of prayer I decided I wanted to do this for real. So I called the local health department and asked a lot of questions. It turns out getting a kitchen in the basement approved for catering would be close to impossible because our house is on septic. The inspector suggested Personal Cheffing. I found Patty Shirley of In Your Home Cooking in the phone book and she led me to PCN. And here I am several years later a proud member of PCC!

These days I have about a dozen clients I cook for on a regular basis ranging from weekly to every 6 weeks. I do about 2 dinner parties a month which I find I love because it’s so much easier to be the chef and not have to be the hostess as well! Someday (soon) I hope to have a commercial kitchen where I will be able to deliver meals from so I can take on more clients. I am so inspired by all the talented people in the PCC network and really feel blessed to be doing something I thoroughly enjoy!
