Simply Delicious Personal Chef Service
I’m honored to be named PCC’s Entrepreneur for December!
I started my business, Simply Delicious, in Sept. 2007. My goal was to provide healthy, home-cooked meals to time-starved families in my area. My very basic business plan called for me cooking for two families on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, with word-of-mouth and homemade brochures being my primary source of marketing. I considered this a part-time venture that would make me happy and provide a little income.
If you had told me that by the fall of 2011, despite the terrible economy, I’d have a full client load, two assistants, a website, a blog and a Facebook business page, I wouldn’t have believed you! Today I cook for five families – two weeklies and three biweeklies (one of whom wants to be a weekly – we’re working on that). I also appear at special events in my community and volunteer to cook for two local shelters.
I owe a debt of gratitude not only to my clients, for having me back week after week, but also to my family, for believing in me (and being awesome taste testers!). I also appreciate the wonderful personal chefs and other inspirational men and women I’ve met over the past four years. They’ve offered advice and support, taken on clients when I had too much on my plate, and listened when I just had to vent about something. My two assistants, Jill and Stephanie, have added a lot of joy to my work days, not to mention alleviating my work load.
Being a member of PCC has played a part in my success. Whether I’m reading through the forums for advice and recipes, or offering information to another member, I feel connected to a network of like-minded professionals. Debra, Bill and Leslee among others have been a constant source of support. Thank you! And, if you’ve read this far, please visit my Facebook page and throw me a “Like”.
