Jewels in the Kitchen
Julie Dell Townsend is the chef and owner of Jewels in the Kitchen, a personal chef service serving Houston, TX and the surrounding areas since 2007.
Jewels in the Kitchen offers traditional personal chef services, cooking parties, cooking classes for both individuals and groups, and in-home catering for parties of all kinds.
A native Houstonian, Julie grew up cooking with her mother and grandmother. All the family meals were prepared from fresh ingredients. Julie was given free rein in the kitchen from a young age and often experimented with new recipes even making up a few of her own. Her grandmother was famous for her pies so baking was something Julie began young, baking her first ‘scratch’ cake at the age of eight, promptly becoming the official birthday cake baker for all family birthdays.
Cooking for family and friends became a way of life and her passion.
Julie has always enjoyed the freedom and creative outlet cooking offers. She has taken many cooking classes throughout the years and continues to hone her skills as a chef.
Julie is a founding member of the Personal Chef’s Cooperative and former member of USPCA and Personal Chefs Network. She was honored to receive the “Pacesetter Award” from Personal Chefs Network in March 2009.
Chef Julie is fully insured and holds a “ServSafe” Food Service Manager’s Certification from the Health and Human Services Department of the City of Houston, the most widely accepted food safety program among local, state and federal health departments. She also is a recipe tester for Cook’s Illustrated magazine.
