FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chef Entrepreneurs Form Nation’s First
Non-Profit Trade Association for Personal Chefs
SEATTLE, WA – More than 200 personal chefs and caterers have come together to form the nation’s first not-for-profit trade association that will serve their individual needs as culinary entrepreneurs.
Bill Furr, chef/owner of Chef Furr You Personal Chef Service in Nashville, and Debra Lane, chef/owner of Chef to Go, a Gourmet Meal Delivery in suburban Seattle, co-founded the group in August and immediately found a large group of chefs throughout the nation that had similar interests.
Until Personal Chefs Cooperative was formed, only private for-profit subscription organizations existed for personal chefs. Lane and Furr continually stress the goal of mutual benefit for members of PCC, rather than personal benefit for one or two owners.
Furr, PCC’s president, said, “We’ve chosen a solitary profession and to succeed in today’s economy, you can’t rely on talent alone.” He continued, “Pooling resources with colleagues provides strengths in areas where you may be weak.” He stressed that a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others succeed motivated him to co-found the association.
As a member-owned and member-run association, PCC will provide immediate benefits to the membership through affiliated websites including http://personalchefsforhire.com and http://caterersforhire.com. These websites will be publicized widely to help match consumers with talented chefs for personal chef services or catering events. Additional alliances with other culinary-focused organizations are in the process of being formed.
PCC also has formed a charitable foundation and will announce its plans in January. “We feel it’s important for us to give back to the community and those less fortunate than we are” says Lane, who serves as PCC’s vice president. “The charitable foundation will be an integral part of our association.”
PCC membership is open to all culinary entrepreneurs, especially personal chefs. For additional information, visit the website at http://personalchefscooperative.com.
